Chora is a scenic old big inland village, situated on the junction of the inland road network. It is found at a distance of 3 km northwest of Pythagoreio lies the village of Chora, at the northeast part of the homonymous plain. Until 1854, Chora was the capital of the island and this is the reason of its name since almost all island capitals bare this name.
Chora counts some 1500 permanent residents, the majority of them living mainly on tourism and to a lesser extent on agriculture.If you prefer to stay to this relatively quiet village, instead of the crowded tourist resorts, the village offers some accommodation facilities; there are also nice traditional taverns with good food and in the old local traditional cafés will enjoy your aperitif accompanied by nice local delicacies.
For swimming you may go to the near by scenic beach of Potokaki, with 50 permanent residents, a pretty popular beach with considerable tourist facilities.
